Adele fails to register her baby

Singer Adele is facing a fine of 1,000 pounds after she did not register her newborn son legally, within 42 days of birth.
The 24-year-old became a mother Oct 19 but did not complete legal formalities and hence is facing the penalty. However, things are not likely to turn serious for Adele, who is engaged to Simon Konecki.
"Cops are hardly going to be banging on their doors and it's probably just an oversight on their part," a leading website quoted a source as saying.

"Most parents register their baby within a couple of weeks because it is a nice thing to do- and because there is maximum fine of 1,000 pounds if they don't. There are loads of reason why parents are late and millions of couples don't bother for ages," the source added.

PeeCee - Kat break the ice

Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif have never been the best of friends. In fact, reportedly during the making of Agneepath, a film that starred PeeCee as the female lead and Katrine as the guest item girl, the two did not share amicable vibes. And recently, after the former A-list actress was spotted by our lensman outside a certain Khan's Bandra apartment at 5 am in the morning, chances of PeeCee ever being best friends with the A-list actor's former girlfriends Kat looked feeble. But surprise, surprise! At a recent award function held in Mumbai, Mirror spotted the two ladies hugging in open view of the audience. And we couldn't help but capture the moment.
An eyewitness told us all about the priceless moment. "PeeCee had gone up on stage to receive an award. On her way down, she just came over to hug Katrina, who was sitting beside her Ek Tha Tiger director Kabir Khan. On lookers were quite stunned to see the two of them embrace." Well, we believe a certain Khan would be quite 'stunned' as well.

GULSHAN GROVER

They thought Asian actors were troublemakers

When I started off, actors who wanted to work in Hollywood, packed their bags and left the country, settled there. None of the successful actors with an impressive body of work here, thought of venturing into Hollywood without wanting to settle there. And I wanted to be an exception. It was in the 90s. There was no clarity on how to get an agent, get films. I had gone for a show with Aamir and Shah Rukh to Los Angeles. I figured Hollywood had no idea of how we work here, who were our biggest stars. What's more, the agents there wanted aspirants to stay there, not come back. Communication was a problem. This was in the pre-email days, when everything was faxed. It was very difficult to convince them that we were professionals who could be trusted.
They had heardd horror stories about us that we don't come on time, we get drunk, get into brawls and all that. Sometimes they offered me contracts that said my passport will be confiscated. It took time for them to understand us.
I got an agent, but roles offered were that of Asian cabbies with a few lines. When I refused them, they asked me to get lost. Then Jungle Book happened in 1997, where I played the main villian.
Duncan McLachlan, the director met me and said I had a 'strong face and amazing eyes.' I waited for the final call for three months, but then I was told the distributors did not want an Indian actor for such an important part. I was disappointed. But then much later, while shootinf for Koyla, the producer called me again and said the director was unhappy with the replacement actor and wanted to know if I still had long hair! I said yes, and I was on!
Since then I have acted in nine top-of-the-line Hollywood films, and have several meaty roles to my credit. Today I can safely say that I had laid down the ground roles for a whole lot of talented stars - Aishwarya, Anil Kapoor, Irrfan...
I am told, when Anil Kapoor, my colleague and my peer, tell me that when every time he goes to LA and meets the agents and the production houses, he is asked about "Gulshan Grover". It feels good. I always wanted to make my country proud and work with my head held high.

Ekta bans actors for flooding her inbox

Declares on a social networking site that she will never work with Harshad Chopra or Aditi Gupta again

From being the unrivalled queen of television soaps to heading one of the most adventurous production houses in Hindi film industry, Ekta Kapoor has given several aspirants the much required 'break'. Needless to say, she has often been at the receiving end of requests from actors. And Ekta has always maintained her poise. In fact, she has welcomed newcomers by even installing a drop box for them to submit portfolios at the Balaji office gates in Andheri years back. But the so called 'fans' of two television actors have made her lose her calm. Harassed by several followers of television actors Harshad Chopra and Aditi Gupta - who acted in a Balaji serial that was aired last in 2010, continuously for a couple of years, Ekta has declared on a public forum her decision to never cast them in any of her TV soaps.

"Dear harshad aditi fans, I dnt knw if u guys wl get this msg but its imperative I somehow reach u guys! its been 5 years u guys hv hounded me ! spamim my inbox my phone n twitter...just because of this I pROMISE NEVER to cast these 2 ACTORS! forget casting them togethEr! THNAKU!" -- was her exact post on the Facebook page.
"There has to be a limit. The fans of these two actors were not content with hounding me for so many years, they started harassing my friends. There was a time when my mailbox used to get jammed because they sent me all sorts of requests to cast them together in my serials. I ignored them till now. But in the last couple of months, they seemed to have crossed the line," said Ekta adding that things got out of hand when the Asia Head of a prominent channel called to say that the same fans have been spamming him as well. "I was too angry when I updated the status on my facebook page and I have calmed down since then. But I still feel harassed," said Ekta and mentioned that she may change her mobile number now, an idea she had been resisting for long.
When contacted, Harshad and Aditi denied that they were in any way responsible for the spam messages Ekta received.
"I know about this and let me tell you that I am not registered on any of the social networking sites. So, I am not aware of what my fans do there. I feel embarassed and humiliated when people come to me and say they have received such mails," said Aditi.
On the other hand,Harshad mentioned he was accused of spamming Ekta in the past. "Somebody who claims to be my fan is doing this. But I don't really know who. We don't have any control over our fans. I am really sorry on their behalf but that is the most I can do at the moment," said Harshad.

Sona-Akki poised for a hattrick

Akshay rewards Sonakshi's loyalty by offering her the lead in Ghajini director's next. Sorry Parineeti, better luck next time!

There has been a lot of speculation about Akshay Kumar's leading lady AR Murugadoss' Thupakki - his second Hindi film after Ghajini (2008). While certain reports suggested that PeeCee Junior, Parineeti may be the one to star opposite the actor, insiders revealed that Sonakshi Sinha may just have kanded her third film with Akki.
While some media reports claimed that Parineeti may have landed the conveted role, her spokesperson confirmed, "She is not doing the film." As for Sonakshi, the chance to star with Akki for the third time ws not without share of near-misses.
Even while the casting was being finalised, there were rumours about Sonakshi being upset with Akki for not standing up for her candidature for thr role despite she supporting his decision to boycott the promotions of Joker earlier in the year.
Says a source, "The fact that Sonakshi was possibly not the first choice for Thupakki did not agree with her since she had pinned her hopes for Akki. After Rowdy Rathore, Joker and the special appearance in Oh My God, she had hoped that Akki would reward her commitment by offering her the lead role in one of his biggest films this season. When that did not happen, she had retreated hurt."
But all the bitterness may now be a thing of the past. In fact, we learnt that Akki and Sonakshi saw the original Tamil action thriller together last week.
Incidentally, not just Sonakshi, several other actresses had been pitching hard for the lead role opposite Akki, who will be seen as an Army officer in the film.

MEANWHILE...
Pink City stops for PC Jr
Maneesh Sharma waited long to start his third film with YRF. After Shahid Kapoor's ouster from the project and replacing him with Susshant Singh Rajput, the director finally started shooting the film in Jaipur.
The Badi Chaupar market in the Pink City came to a stand-still as Parineeti, Sushant and Maneesh shot their first scene there. A make-shift coffee shop was created on the roof of a shop in the market area.
According to sources close to the film, the cast and crew will move to Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar for the next leg of the shooting.

Kristen to pay a price for cheating?

Whether u love her or hate her, there's no question Kristen Stewart killed it as the face popular Spanish fashion house's fragrance.

Which is why we were shocked to hear the reports that the Twilight babe might be losing out on her infamous cheating scandal with Rupert Sanders, her Snow White and the Huntsman director.
    Why?
Because Sanders' scorned wife, Liberty Ross, is friendly with Alexander Wang, the new creative director for the edgy high-end brand. Wang was named the new head of the brand shortly after the fashion house parted ways with its former creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere.
According to a leading website, so K Stew might be fired and kicked to the high-fashion curb.
But a source tells another website that the rumor is entirely not true, and thre has never been any talk about Kristen no longer being the face.
Another source echoes the same sentiment, insisiting that there is zero truth to the story and they are happy with Kristen.
There's no official comment from the fashion house at this time.

'I thought Imran was a paedophile'

Perhaps in a bid to live up to her free spirired image, Anushka Sharma at a recent press event held on Tuesday, landed her pretty foot in the mouth. In answer to a question about what she thought of her Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola co-star Imran Khan, the actress said, "I thought he was a paedophile," and giggled.
For the next few seconds, everybody present at the event was rendered spechless. Imran, being a through gentleman, simply replied: "Yeah, I've heard such talks doing the rounds." But unlike Imran, people from the industry haven't been able to take the statement in good humour. A senior filmmaker who happened to see Anushka's outburst of cocky exuberance wondered if she knows the meaning of 'paedophile' saying, "Some things aren't done in civil society. Joking about paedophilia is one of them."

ROMEO NEVER DIES

....at least for Bollywood filmmakers with Shekhar Kapur being the latest addition to the list of those who have drawn inspiration from the Shakespearean classic

Shakespeare never had it so good... or bad. Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project Paani is now widely believed to be a thinly-veiled futuristic tribute to Romeo & Juliet, the tragic love story between two younger lovers from warring families.
However, he is not the first Hindi filmmaker to adapt to the screen one of the legendary English poet-playwright's most romantic works.
There have been umpteen instances in the recent past of films that are a modern-day take on the famous play.

ISHAQZAADE(2012)
THE LOVERS: Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor
HIGHLIGHT: Born to politically rival families in northern India, Parma (Arjun) and Zoya (Parineeti) live the life of Shakespeare's famous tragic lovers. Like the Montague and Capulet of 17th Century, Parma and Zoya die in the end.

ISHAAQ
(UNDER PRODUCTION)
THE LOVERS: Amyra Dastoor, Prateik Babbar
HIGHLIGHT: Manish Tiwari's interpretation, which remains mostly true to the original, has been shot in and around Varanasi. It is almost ready for release with only five more days of shooting left, by the director's own admission.

RAM LEELA
(UNDER PRODUCTION)
THE LOVERS: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh
HIGHLIGHT: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's adaptation of the play is based in Gujarat. In fact, Ranveer had to brush up his language and Deepika took dancing lessons to fit the new-age Romeo-Juliet.

RAANJHANAA
(UNDER PRODUCTION)
THE LOVERS: Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush
HIGHLIGHT: Aanand Rai's take on Shakespeare's play ferries the star-crossed lovers to Varanasi and Delhi. The film happens to be Dhanush's Bollywood debut. Reportedly, the actor had injured his shoulder during filming of an action sequence of a Telugu film he shot just before Raanjhanaa. This delayed an entire song-and-dance sequence featuring Dhanush.

PRASOON JOSHI- SAANSON KO SAASON MEIN GHULNE DE...

I hadn't copied any established lyricist

I had been writing poetry and lyrics since long but my first hit that virtually opened the doors for me in Hindi cinema was the Alka Yagnik-Babul Supriyo duet Saanson Ko Saanson Mein Ghulne De Zaraa from Kunal Kohli's film Hum Tum.

I wasn't new to romantic poetry and had written a substantial amount of it before. But this number gave me a euphoric feeling of mass connectivity. Having started out as a copywriter in advertising, I knew what connecting to your audience meant. the high I got from reaching out to millions off hearts is indescribable. Saanson ko Saanson created an immediate and far-reaching impact. and, I got my first popular award for it. i feel the film industry reacted to my poetry in a positive way because they noticed a fresh poetic voice in my writing. I hadn't copied any established poet-lyricist. I was pretty much walking on my own lonely path of creativity. The audience liked that.
My strength was I could not be compared to other lyricists. I didn't follow the usual patterns of film lyrics writing. I remember Pam Aunty (Pamela Chopra - wife of late Yash Chopra) telling me she loved the expression, "Lamhom Ki Guzaarish Hai" in my song. Part of the credit for the song's impact goes to Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan who emoted to the lyrics and made them their own.

First (as a) couple

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena will host their first party after their October wedding to celebrate the success of talaash

She has missed out on Aamir Khan's bash to celebrate the success of Talaash since she had been shooting with Salman Khan. Looks like Kareena Kapoor has thus decided to throw a return party. In what is being touted as Saif Ali Khan and Bebo's first bash as married coupl, the actress will celebrate her recently realeased film.

A source close to Saif told Mirror, "Since Saif had been busy shooting Bullet Raja, he had no time to watch Kareena's latest flick. Also, as a couple, they haven't had the time to host their friends from the industry. So, after his current Lucknow schedule gets over, Saif has planned to throw a party at his Bandra pad to celebrate wife Bebo's film."
Needless to say, it will be a starry affair. "The couple will invite their friends from the industry. Apart from the cast and crew of Talaash that includes Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, Karan Johar, Karima Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Malaika Arora Khan, Preity Zinta, Manish Malhotra are most likely to grace the do."

'SRK, Gauri and I are one unit'

In a candid from London, KJo scotches all rumours of a possible 'cooling off' between him and Shah Rukh

All is well between Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. Scotching rumours of a 'coolong off' or even a 'rift' in one of the most definitive friendships in the film industry, Karan Johar revealed to Mirror that he is at the moment in London with SRK's family. "I am here to spend time with Aryan and Gauri. Shah Rukh, Gauri and I are a unit that has evolved beyond the realms of the film fratenity," said the filmmaker, adding, "Nothing, or no one can ever come between us."

The filmmaker was responding to our questions about his 'changing equations' with the Shah Rukh Khan - both perceived and real. A lot has happened since he and SRK came together for My Name Is Khan in 2010- a storm behind the high walls of Mannat, swirling rumours of tensions between old friends, a few public spats and a very diplomatic KJo reaching out to Salman Khan, giving credence to the theory that his next film in all probability will star this Khan and not his old favourite. In other words, there has been a strong belief that the casting would be a telling commentary on the status of his friendship with SRK.

KJo is far from amused. "Every morning I wake up to reports about my film by people who seem to know more about it than I do," he says, adding, "The truth is, I am in the midst of structturing two ideas simultaneously." The first, as he had said in an interview to this newspaper earlier, is based on an idea first floated by his father. "It is a love saga, mounted on a very, very large canvas for which my father had done extensive research in lahore," says he. "It is the most special story I have ever conceived and the screenplay is being finalised." Though KJo says it needs two sets of "established and able" actors, he insists, he has not approached anyone "officially or otherwise" yet.
"The second is a husband-wife drama with strong leading parts," he says. "It will take two months for both the screenplays to be ready and it is only then I will start making my calls. It would be foolish to assume I would take any decision but professionally. I am here to sell a filmmaker's dream and will only cast stars who suit the parts," he adds emphatically.
Reflecting briefly on his long and eventful association with SRK and his banner, which has played an important part in defining Hindi cinema of the last two decades, Karan says he owes his career to his friend. "Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Shah Rukh are the two reasons I am in the industry. Shah Rukh is like my older brother, and I am bound to him for emotional, spiritual and professional reasons."
Does that mean SRK could well find a pride of place in his upcoming films? Quite expectedly, Karan showers generous praises on his friend, "Like wine, he keeps getting better with age. From Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to MNIK or even Jab Tak... he has grown in strength, stature," he says and then pauses before adding, "The intensity and maturity with which he performed his role of a lover and soldier in Jab Tak... speaks of a man who has seen life. I always tell him, his off-screen persona makes him a bigger star than his on-screen presence. It would be exciting for any filmmaker to work with him now."

New years without Chikni Chameli and Fevicol

New year's eve is the time when actresses start wishing for a hit item number in their repertoire. And while many may envy Katrina's popular Chikni Chameli and Kareena's Fevicol - a song that's fast gaining momentum, Mirror has learnt that the two actresses have decided not to perform at any bash on December 31. According to sources from the industry, Katrina is being offered nearly Rs 2 crore to perform to the item song- one of the most popular tracks this year. Kareena has received similarly lucrative offers.

The decision is part of a pact made by the A-list actresses. In fact, Katrina and Kareena both have plans for the Christmas season. "While Kareena will be on holiday with Saif, Katrina will join her family in London," said the source. But come January and both the actresses will be performing at events. Reportedly, both are open to dance at weddings as well provided they can get their personal security along.

'Malcolm' suffers stroke

Frankie Muniz suffered a mini stroke Friday, he revealed in a tweet Tuesday. The former child star, who led in the 2000-06 Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, was slurring his speech and acting odd enough for his friends to hospitalize him, according to a leading website. Doctors diagnosed the incident as having stemmed from a mini stroke, the lay term for a transient ischemic attack. In a TIA, blood flow is cut off to part of the brain for a period of time, up to a day and sometimes for an hour or two.
Muniz tweeted on Tuesday: "I was in the hospital last Friday. I suffered a 'Mini Stroke,'which was not fun at all. have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!"
Muniz, who turns 27 on Wednesday and also starred in the Agent Cody Banks film series, has acted less in recent years, trading in his onscreen time for a career as an open-wheel race car driver and a drummer for the band Kingsfoil. He recently had a guest spot on ABC's Don't Trust the B.

EDDIE IS MOST OVER-PAID ACTOR

Eddie Murphy has been named the most over-paid actor in Hollywood. The 51-year-old actor - whose recent films Imagine That, A Thousand Words and Meet Dave were all labelled flops - is reportedly no longer popular at the box office despite being paid a huge amount of money to star in huge number of movies.

According to Forbes magazine, for every $1 Eddie was paid for his last three movies, they returned an estimated average of $2.30.
His movie Tower Heist which was released last year also failed to wow audiences and earned just over double its budget of $75 million. Earlier this year, Eddie revealed he is in talks to make a Beverly Hills Cop TV show. One of the comedian and actor's best loved roles was as wise cracking detective Axel Foley in the three action/ comedy films of the late 80s and he's working on bringing him back.
He said, "What I'm trying to do with Beverly Hills Cop now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.
"I'd do the pilot, show up here and there."
According to the magazine, a movie has to earn twice its production budget in ticket sales, plus the millions spent on marketing, to be considered a financial success.
Katherine Heigl came second in the list of most overpaid stars as her most recent film One For The Money earned just $37 million and cost $40 million to make.
Reese Witherspoon - who recently gave birth to her third child - also failed to lure audiences to the cinema this year.
Other surprising actors on the list include Sandra Bullock and Jack Black.

Tonight Westlife lyrics - Video Dailymotion

For love and for money

He got India its first ever Olympic medal for boxing. And now Vijender Singh is desperately looking for a Bollywood assignment. Currently employed as the honorary police superintendent with the Haryana police, Vijender has already had a few round of auditions with reputed production houses in Bollywood. And apart from an undying wish to act, a second source of income has pushed the boxer to look out for Bollywood opportunities.
"Main toh try maar raha hoon yaar," he told us in his inimitable Haryanvi accent and added, "I'm sure I will get something. I have already done modeling after all." He also mentioned that he is aware of fellow boxer Mary Kom's impending Bollywood debut and wants to see himself on the silver screen as well.

"Though I want to be in films, I am not planning to quit boxing. I want to act along with my sport. When I was a model I used to balance my modelling career with boxing and yet I was able to focus on my sport. I am sure I can do the same films," said Vijender, adding, "My wife is passionate about films and is encouraging me to try my luck in Bollywood.
He revealed that apart from a longing to be on the big screen, there is another reason for him to opt for acting as a career. "It will generate some additional income for me too," he said. In fact, people close to Vijender expressed their concern over the way the spot has paid the Olympian so far.
"He has just got married but the truth is he hasn't been able to earn as much money as his fellow sports people, the cricketers for example. He often questions, why boxing pays so little. 'Hum log mehnat toh kum nahi karte,' he would say. But that's the harsh reality. His government job pays him around Rs 15,000. Obviously that's not enough," said a friend.
Vijender reiterated: "I am married now and I want to start a family. Earlier I used my modelling money to prepare boxing. Now I need that supplementary income to keep my wife happy."
Incidentially, Vijender has also landed a few endorsement deals after his Olympic victory. "But sadly, his cricketer colleagues are more in demand," the friend added.
But tell that to Vijender and he would compare himself to Mike Tyson. "When Tyson didn't have enough money, he acted in movies. I can do the same," he said and admitted that he had auditioned house recently. "I went for an audition and I hope I did a good job. I was told Indeed to work on my voice modulation. I am ready to work very hard if they offer me a role," he said.

Not 'friends' enough to attend family do?

Rana Daggubati, over the past few months have been in the spotlight fo rhis alleged liaisons with actresses. During the shooting of his first Hindi film, Dum Maaro Dum, the actor was labelled his co-star Bipasha Basu's '3-am' friend. And though both actors have brushed it off quoting 'Hindi lessons' as an alibi, the camaraderie has continued for months. Soon after, the actor reportedly got busy lending a shoulder to Nayanthara who split with her boyfriend Prabhu Deva. And recently, we told you how Rana was spotted partying with Priyanka at a night club owned by his uncle Nagarjuna. But surprisingly, the three beauties will be absent at the grand wedding of Rana's sister Malavika at the Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad.

In an extraordinary coincidence, the trio - Priyanka, Bipasha and Nayanthara, claimed that they were invited for the wedding but couldn't attend the do due to 'professional commitments'.

For example, when we tried to find out what kept Bipasha away from the wedding, a friend of the actor told us, "She was invited but she called up the family and excused herself. She had an ad shoot schedule in Jakarta."
Priyanka too was busy with an ad shoot. "She is extremely busy," said a friend of the actress. Whether Nayanthara too had and ad to shoot is unknown. However, source close to Rana told us that she will be giving the big wedding a miss.

Though the three women will stay away from the festivities, the reception will not lack lustre. A source told us that many VIP guests including celebrities from the south Indian and Hindi film industry would be there to bless the newly weds.

Manyata joins the designer-wives' club

Fashion designing has long been passe. The latest fad among star wives is interior styling. While Twinkle Khanna, Sussane Roshan and Gauri Khan have been doing up homes for friends and clients for a while now, the latest entrant into the club is Manyata Dutt. Mirror found out that it was she who decorated Sanjubaba's duplex home in Imperial Heights, Bandra.

With their twins Iqra and Shahraan growing older, the couple decided to renovate their home. "The entire process tool 10-11 months. Sanjay and Manyata shifted to another flat in the same building. While Sanjay would go far away for his acting assignments, Manyata would supervise the makeover of their apartment," said a source.
And boy was it a makeover!
Manayata changed almost everything right down to the sofa set in the house. "The layout of the house is more spacious and kid friendly now. Manayata is aware of Sanjay's penchant for English films and books, so she has even created a seperate library for the hubby," the source added.
The couple and the kids have shifted back to the all new home around ten days back and we hear that Sanjay is all praises about his wife's creative touch.

Catch me if you can!

Buzz is, the fiercely competitive Deepika and Anushka are keeping each other on their pretty toes

There are probably two things that Anushka Sharma have in common - a cracker of a debut film and a certain Ranveer Singh. But that's pretty much where it ends. If industry insiders are to be believed, the lovely ladies are going all out to ensure that they stay ahead of each other in the race to the top.
Reports suggest they are keeping a strict tab on each other's diary - whether it is for film deals or endorsements. And the latest is that both they are pitching hard for Sajid Nadiadwala's upcoming film Kick. And while Nadiadwala should be happy with the two of them willing to bend backwards for an opportunity to work with Salman Khan, what piqued everyone's curiosity was, how does Deepika intend to adjust her dates?
A source close to Deepika pointed out that juggling dates has been her forte" "She worked out her schedules for Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela and adjusted her dates again to promote Race 2. Besides, Deepika has missed several opportunities to work with Salman in the past. This time she is keen to make it happen." As for Anushka, Kick would go a long way in giving her career the masala makeover that it could do with.
Unfortunately for the talented actress, her vivacious, girl-next-door image may have cost her a few top-billed projects. Directors Abbas-Mastan, who worked with Deepika in Race 2 endorse this: "Deepika is high on style, glamour and screen presence. Anushka is the perfect choice for bubbly roles."

'Deepika dominated the modelling scene before Anushka's explosive entry

Besdes, the Salman film would also help Anushka get even with Deepika after she lost Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani by a whisker. While Anushka had been almost finalised for the role, the final push came from Deepika, whose history with Ranbir and renewed friendship ultimately got her role.

When contacted, a source from the company that manages Deepika's portfolio rubbished all comparisons between her and Anushka. "There is hardly any competition to Deepika. Remember, she is the one who's got Ram Leela and Yeh Jawaani. Not Anushka." When asked about how Deepika has been sending feelers to Nadiadwala, teh source shot back: "What's wrong with that?"
That Deepika has been 'proactive' in scooping up plum roles is grist for gossip. In fact a leading actress, who had refused a project which went to Deepika recently made a catty remark while speaking to this newspaper off the record: "She (Deepika) is good at grabbing projects. Wonder why no one notices it."
While this hectic backroom negotiation often goes unreported, Anushka could not help but take a pot shot at the seemingly fragile Deepika who had taken ill due too exhaustion.
In an interview to this paper (November 5), when faced with the question about her being anorexic, Anushka had shot back: "Have I ever landed up in hospitals saying I am exhausted? I am very fit girl."
This came just three months after their close encounter at Ayan Mukerji's party. "The girls came face-to-face but literally looked through each other. Thankfully, Anushka left the party in a few minutes...." recalls a guest present at the September 29 bash.
The frosty vibes date back to the summer war between the two over some endorsement deals as well. In June this year Anushka had slashed her endorsement fee from Rs 4 crore to Rs 3 crore to grab a two-wheeler deal, which was first offered to Deepika. In September, Deepika retaliated by signing on a rival two-wheeler brand.
Earlier, Deepika had similarly lost out a hair-care product deal to Anushka.
Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, who has shot several ad campaigns with Deepika, said: "I have worked with Deepika, who had dominated the modelling scene for a long time. But with Anushka's explosive entry, she is definitely giving Deepika a bit of a run for her money."
And when all else may be forgiven, Anushka, say sources, may be still smarting over the pace with which Ranveer has moved on. That he is seriously dating Deepika, his co-star in Ram Leela is stuff of general knowledge.

Star Demand

'Silent' Emraan shoots for KJo

He lost his voice during Ghanchakkar but shot with Dutt

Losing his voice while shooting for one film couldn't keep Emraan Hashmi away from the other, especially as it happened to be Karan Johar project.

Four days ago, during the filming of Rajkumar Gupta's Ghanchakar, Emraan had to scream from atop a railway train. After returning home, he realised his throat was hurting badly. It got worse and for the next three days, the actor could barely speak. However, yesterday, he had to shoot for Karan Johar's Unglee being directed by Rensil D'silva, considering it was a combined shoot alongside Sanjay Dutt and the dates had been pre-adjusted accordingly.
Yesterday, a source close to the actor told Mirror, "The last three days have been terrible for Emraan. The doctor has been visiting him but the medicines have taken their own time. He has terrible throat pain but he had to go for KJo's shoot.'
But how did he manage to deliver his lines in such a condition? "Sanjay was delivering his dialogues loudly but Emraan, who was in the same frame, could hardly be heard. Of course, he will later dub for and rectify the scene. But the shoot was tiring and even now, things aren't looking good," the source said.
    Emraan remained unavailable for comment.

Skipped Dubai for personal reasons

On December 3, in an article that spoke about Anil's over the top demands, we told you how following the actor's rather expensive list of requirements, the organisers of a Bollywood event in Dubai dropped him from the guest list. Following the article, the organisers got in touch with us to say that: "As per industry norms, all stars who travel for events either paid or unpaid are extended certain courtesies which traditionally include air tickets for the actor and his accompanying staff as well as ground transport and hotel stay."
They told us that Anil Kapoor's requirements weren't a one-off. They in fact stated: "Anil is one of the easiest and most professional stars to work with. He doesn't have any unusual demands and travels with a very small entourage. And he did not attend this award ceremony because of personal reasons as his mother was admitted to hospital."

Preity stands by Prem

Actress refuses to replace ailing director of her debut film. He finishes film before surgery in London

For those who think relationships in the film industry are based purely on commerce, this makes for a rather heart-warming story.

That Preity Zinta's debut film as producer, Ishkq in Paris, had hit a rough patch with her director Prem Raj developing a serious illness, we had reported. The actress-producer had insisted on waiting till Prem got well. Prem, who had to undergo a remedial surgery in London as part of his treatment, volunteered to be replaced for post-production rather than let the film get postponed indefinitely. But Preity wouldn't hear of it. Ultimately, Prem had to complete all the work on th efilm before going under the knife. It was his way of not letting Preity down, especially after she had reposed so much faith and confidence in him. "I wanted the film to be ready for release before I left for the surgery. I've just finished giving the final touches to our film," he said and added with a smile, "I will be leaving shortly. I'd like everyone to pray for me. My one big joy is I'm leaving Ishkq in Paris ready for release."

The latest we hear is Preity has resolved to wait for her director to be healed and back in India before she releases the film.

Survival instinct

Twenty years and a near-fatal brain haemorrhage later, Sharon Stone is back with a toy boy lover, three growing sons and many films in her kitty

Her infamous leg-crossing scene from the 1992 flick Basic Instinct, where she played a bisexual crime writer, is impossible to forget. The film turned her into Hollywood's hottest sex bomb overnight.
Twenty years later, Sharon Stone (54) goes down memory lane with a leading website. "It's funny but I never knew I was hot or could be beautiful until I saw Basic Instinct. That's when I realised I could play hot parts," recalls the actress, adding, "I didn't start out being the hot girl. I learned how to be hot. Until then I was a nerd - the clever girl."
Sharon Stone has been keeping a low profile for a while but is back with a bang, fully recovered from a near-fatal brain haemorrhage, with three growing sons, a toy boy lover, several films awaiting release and a co-starring role with Woody Allen. "You don't go through all I've been through and come back and go on with your career unless you're going to take some very big challenges," she says seriously and adds that she doesn't really care about failure. "I failed at the biggest things there are in life. I failed in my health, I failed in my marriage, I failed in everything and I've picked myself up and gone on. I was really lucky not to die, so it feels fantastice to be older and alive, and to be playing older and alive people," she says.
Talking about her sons Quinn, Laird and Roan, whom she's just dropped to school, Sharon says, "They're aged six, seven and 12 and when they're not in school, they come everywhere with me. Watching children grow up, you learn a lot  about life and about being a better person." Sharon shares custody of the oldest, Roan, with her former husband, Phil Bronstein, from whom she was divorced eight years ago. After several romances, she is currently dating 27-year-old Argentinian model Martin Mica. "Yes, he's younger than me. Younger's good, right?" she says defiantly.

Remembering the time when she was shown the rough cut of the sequel to Basic Instinct, she says, "I asked them where all the crazy stuff had gone. I wanted to show more." Her career slipped after earning a Best Actress Oscar nomination in 1995 for Casino. She was still married to Bronstein when she suffered a brain haemorrhage in September 2011. Recalling the pain, she says, "My head blew up. It was almost as if I was shot. I was haemorrhaging into my brain for 11 days before they found out what was going on." However, much later, she had what she calls the 'white light' experience. She nursed herself back to health with medication, faith and spiritual healing. But her marriage broke up and she decided to go back to work. Today, apart from playing a TV reporter caught up in human trafficking in Border Run, she portrays porn star Linda Lovelace's mother in Lovelace and goddess Aphrodite in Gods Behaving Badly, both slated for release early next year. She has four films lined up, including Fading Gigolo with Woody Allen, in which she plays a 'colour-blind, lesbian dermatologist involved in a menage a trois'. "It's kind of a relief to play character roles because how long can you wear high heels?" she laughs.

Court stays Anita's petition

In what must be a respite for Rajesh Khanna's family, the Bombay High Court yesterday stayed till December 17 the proceedings in the case by Anita Advani who has claimed to have been in a live-in relationship with the late superstar. The proceedings in a Metropolitan Magistrate's Court at Bandra were stayed by Justice K U Chandiwal, who issued a notice to Advani, who claims that she looked after the actor in the last few years of his life as a wife. She also claimed to have video and photographs to show that she has fasted for him on Karwa Chauth and celebrated Ganpati with him at the bungalow.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Dimple and Akshay Kumar challenging the proceses started by the magistrate against them and other family members. Twinkle and Rinke, Khanna's daughters, are also in the process of filing similar petitions.
Advani, in her complaint against Dimple and others, claimed she was driven out of Khanna's bungalow Ashirwad after his death and sought maintenance from the actor's estate.

Dimple contended that she was the legally wedded wife of Khanna and as such no other woman can claim share in the wealth left behind by her husband. The Magistrate, Dimple argued, should not have entertained the complaint that made "baseless" charges.
She contended that it was "unreasonable" for the Magistrate to even suggest that she and her family go in for a compromise with the complainant in which case he would refer the matter for mediation.
The Magistrate, while hearing Advani's complaint, had earlier last week issued summons to Dimple, her daughters Twinkle Kumar and Rinke Saran and son-in-law Akshay Kumar asking them to appear in person before the court to answer the allegations, which besides domestic violence includes forging Khanna's will.
Akshay Kumar supported Dimple's contention that Advani had no right to claim any share from Khanna's properties which is said to be to the tune of Rs 500 crores.

Race 2 wins over Dippy

She has taken a break from Ye Jawaani...and Ram Leela to promote the Abbas-Mustan thriller

Deepika Padukone, who had famously walked out of Abbas-Mustan's Race 2 citing date issues, is now using the film as a reason to take a break from both Ayaan Mukerji's Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela.
Mirror has learnt the two projects she is shooting for simultaneously, will have to be put on hold because she is taking time off in January to promote Abbas-Mustan's film.
Next month, she will travel to different parts of the world to promote the multi-starrer.
A source close to Deepika confirmed the news and said, "She will be occupied for the most part of January promoting Race 2. That is why she requested Ayaan and Bhansali to let her go for some time. Ayaan and Bhansali were not too amused but they relented."
Seems that the makers of Race 2 have happily left the past behind.
When contacted, co-producer of Race 2 Jay Shewakramani said, "Deepika is very excited at the response she has been getting on Race 2. She is going all out to promote the film to the fullest."

Still waiting for Bhajji's approval

Geeta Basra talks about her four-year-old affair with the cricketer and why there have been no wedding plans yet

It has been nearly four years that Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra have been dating. While reports suggested they were committed enough to tie the knot, the couple have always denied being in a relationship. According to the source close to the couple, it is Harbhajan who has refused to admit to the relationship. And it has more to do with his volatile career than anything else. On her part, Geeta tried hard to focus on her film career, without much success. Geeta has confessed to her freinds that being a relationship with Harbhajan, may have come at the cost of her chances in the film industry. "The constant talk and speculation about their relationship and reports of their marriage severely damaged Geeta's prospects in the industry," says a source close to the starlet.

For all these years Geeta has had hardly any work to speak of. And it is during this time that Harbhajan stood by her, helping her to remain afloat, say sources close to the couple. Geeta reciprocated by being there for Harbhajan whenever his career hit a rough patch - and given his mercurial temperament, there have been plenty. "This is one of the reasons why the two have fought shy of talking about their relationship," explains the friend, adding, "There has hardly been a steady phase of fair weather for the two of them to make any sort of an announcement."
In a candid chat with Mumbai Mirror, the actress who was last seen in The Train in 2007, admitted that she has had to pay a heavy price for being Harbhajan's friend. "It is a tough city and a tough industry," she says," And this constant talk about our marriages unsettles everything, upsets people close to me."
But she is quick to point out that even in her most desperate moments, she was never inclined to leverage her relationship with Harbhajan to push her career ahead.
"That is a line I don't want to cross," she admitted.
Geeta's friends insist that though she has respected his decisions by keeping him out of the picture, she had all this while, waited for him to give their relationship his seal of approval. And it has not happened so far.
"We are close (to each other)," she continues, "We have been freinds for a really long time now and I have never denied that. When I am asked whether I am dating him, I don't confirm or deny anything. Because saying a word beyond that would mean crossing the line I have closely guarded for such a long time."
Geeta will be seen in an item song in Zilla Ghaziabad, her first break in a long time. From leading lady to an item girl - is she happy with the way things have planned out for her? "Life is tough in Bollywood. I don't mind the tag of an item girl now. It finally gives me something to talk about. I will be back on screen after a long time, it makes me happy."

Himesh too was a sperm donor

But Vicky Donor stole his thunder, reveals filmmaker John Matthew Mathan about the hero of his unreleased film - A New Love Ishtory

Director John Matthew Mathan has had a bit of a rough road in the Hindi film industry, especially after Sarfarosh. Post the film's success, he started work on a script based on the subject of brain drain. However, tragedy struck in the form of 9/11 and the story lost its relevance.

Unfazed, Mathan moved on to another project titled Shikhar (2005). And while it received critical acclaim, the film didn't fare too well at the BO.
It was in 2007 that the director started filming his next named A New Love Ishtory, written by Vipul K Rawal and starring Himesh Reshammmiya and Niharika Singh (who was earlier dating actor Rakesh Bapat).
The film was ready by 2009 but didn't hit theatres reportedly due to a fallout between Himesh and the producer T-Series. Apparently, Himesh's film with T-series Kajra Re was screened only once in a small theatre in SoBo and a theatre in Pune, which eventually led to them parting ways.
However this was only one of the reasons why the film didn't see the light of day, as Mirror can now reveal. Incidentally, Himesh and T-Series had later managed to iron out their differences. Then again, John Abraham's film Vicky Donor hit them like a bolt from the blue. And the subject of both films turned out to be the same.
In A New Love Ishtory, Himesh played a sperm donor, just like Ayushmann Khurana in Vicky Donor. Began Mathan, "My film was 95 per cent complete but after John came up with Vicky Donor...." and trailed off. After the release of Vicky Donor, there was no point releasing another film based on the same subject, that is A New Love Ishstory, which would have otherwise hit theatres late last year or possibly by June 2012.
Not one to say die though, Mathan told Mirror, "I'll be back," and added, "I am working on a script that revolves round the fickle-mindedness of today's youngesters. I am writing it."
But what about Sarfarosh 2 which he was planning to make with Aamir Khan? "Woh abhi nahin hua. Aamir hasn't heard it yet. I have kept it aside," Mathan said.

IMRAN TURNS ASLAM IN SOBO ON SUNDAY

Breaking out of his chocolate boy image of Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan had turned several shades darker for Sanjay Gadhvi's 2008 film Kidnap. Ready for an encore, Imran signed on to play Dawood Ibrahim's rival Aslam in Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria's sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. And here's how the baddie Imran will look in the film...

Mirror caught Imran and co-star Chetan Hansraj shooting at south Mumbai's Kala Ghoda area on Sunday evening. A night sequence involving Imran and Chetan driving a car out of the parking lot, the shoot began around 6 pm and was still going on when we left the spot at midnight.
The surrounding buildings were illuminated and the parking lot was full of vintage cars. Sporting a moustache, a kurta and a religious charm around his neck, Imran looked every bit the goon he would portray on screen. His body language too, was a complete overhaul from the Jaane Tu..lover boy.

Akki plays Santa to his technicians

Gifts them a bonus of Rs 12 lakh 80 thousand

In keeping with the spirit of X-mas, Akshay Kumar got the technicians of his upcoming film Khiladi 786 a surprise gift. He paid a sum of Rs 12 lakh 80 thousand to the team of 88 crew members on the final day of the shoot as bonus, over and above their daily wages.

Akshay, whohad come up the hard way, recognised the discrepancy in the remuneration of the people behind the scenes. In the Hindi film industry technicians mostly work on per-day wages, which is meagre compared to international standards. The actor realised that the amount of hard work put in by technicians isn't fairly justified monetarily. In fact, newer faces in the industry get paid more than those who have been a part of the system for decades.
And thus, one hour after wrapping up the final day's work, Akshay handed over the bonus to all the workers. He was shooting a song Balma in Lokhandwala. The shooting got over at 5am. At 6 am, he distributed the money among the crew. When contacted, Rajendra Toraskar, the production head of Khiladi 786 confirmed the story and added, "Akshay had done the same several times for many of his films."
Incidentally, the workers were paid bonus amount, according to their grade. While Grade - B workers received Rs 9-11 thousand, Grade-C staff took home Rs 5-8 thousand each. "People from the art department, light men, spot boys, crane operators, vanity van guards, sound attendants, costume assistants and other production people, everyone received a bonus amount," the source added. Looks like Santa came a few weeks too soon for the Khiladi 786 team.

LOCK, STOCK AND SMOKING

The actor's next with brother Sohail is a project named after Radhe, his famous long-haired avatar in the 2003 blockbuster Tere Naam

Satish Kaushik's 2003 film Tere Naam had brought critical acclaim to Salman Khan. Breaking out of the lover boy image, the actor had essayed the role of a bad boy who loses his mind over unrequited love, with elan. And now, Mirror has learnt that Salman is ready to revive the famous character of Radhe - the character that had even made a hair-style famous. Albeit as a namesake, Radhe will come back soon as Sohail Khan's next directorial venture.

We learnt from industry insiders, after Sohail's superhero project Sher Khan hit a roadblock, Salman green flagged another film that will go on floors next year. And it was the actor, who in a recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, confirmed that it would be Radhe.
"I am doing Sohail's film Radhe and that will happen before Sher Khan," he told us and before we got excited, added as a disclaimer, "But, this is just a working title for now."
According to a source Sohail never goes ahead with the project unless his big brother Salman approves of it. "He discussed the subject of Radhe with Salman. After prolonged interactions and several meetings, they agreed on the subject and decided to go on the floors with it before Sher Khan," said the source.
However, plans of revisiting the famous character are still in the nascent stage. "Details are being worked out even as we speak. It would be interesting to see if Salman will grow his hair and reprise the famous role again," the source told us.
Incidentally, Sohail has just returned to the city after organising one of the biggest Bollywood shows in Dubai with Salman and Priyanka Chopra. Whether PeeCee's renewed friendship with the Khan-daan will land her a role in Sohail's project, only time will tell.
