Scarjo expecting first child with fiance Romain Dauriac

Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson is expecting her first child with fiance Romain Dauriac, according to reports.

According to an entertainment daily, multiple sources have confirmed the engaged pair are set to become parents later this year.
Scarlett, 29, and creative agency journalist Romain announced their engagement in August last year after he proposed to her with a vintage Art deco diamond ring.
And it was only earlier this year that the Avengers actress hinted she was looking forward to starting a family.
"At some point it is something I look forward to. I am fortunate that I have had a long career - 20 years - that has been very diverse," she said.
"So, you know, picking a time to plan a family feels like something that I could so and not feel as though I was missing out."
She also gushed about her engagement with the journalist, saying she was "very happy".

Barjatyas part with satellite rights

In an unprecedented move, the production house will give the rights to Salman Khan as part of his remuneration.

Rajshri Productions, which has so far never parted with the satellite rights of their films, are making an exception for the first time in their 52-year old run.

The production house is bending the rule to fit Salman Khan's business model, which categorically states that he will not star in a film unless and until the satellite rights are given to him as part of his remuneration. Reportedly, these rights are eventually passed on to Star Gold.

The actor had signed a Rs 500-crore contract with the channel in 2013 whereby the channel owns exclusive satellite rights to all his films, released between January 2013 and December 2017. Some forthcoming films could figure on these list, including Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick, Boney Kapoor's No Entry Mein Entry and Sooraj Barjatya's family drama.

Just like his box-office record, Salman's satellite ratings too have been on an upward swing since Dabangg hit the theatres in 2010. The film had a TRP close to 10 while Bodyguard registered TRPs of 10.3

In troubled waters

We haven't heard the last of the Italian marines yet. They continue to rock our foreign affairs, as Ameesha Patel discovered recently.

The actress was gearing up to shoot her home-production Desi Magic in the Lecco region of Northern Italy but the provincial president, Daniele Nava, refused to let the crew camp out in the historic Villa Monsatero as a mark of solidarity for his countrymen, Salvatore Girone and Massimiliano Latorre, who face trial in the alleged killing of two Indian fishermen.

When Mirror contacted Ivano Fucci, the line producer of the film in Italy, he confirmed the news saying permission to shoot in the villa was denied as Nava owns the property.

"Nava is a local politician and his bungalow was one of the locations we were looking at, but now we have shifted to a different province," he said, adding, "He has no power to revoke any permission as the Film Commission of Italy had already cleared it. We start shooting in April."

Haunting melodies, hair-raising memories

Back in 1966, Darshan Saberwal took the brave decision to make his romantic suspense thriller, Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi, in black-and-white at a time when colour exploded on the Indian screen. The suspense drama revolves around a mysterious woman who emerges, so it seems, from the skeletal remains at an excavation site, and bears an uncanny resemblance to a centuries-old statue. "The film is in the genre of Mahal and Woh Kaun Thi and my father felt that the eerie beauty of the subject could be best captured in cinematographer Keki Mistry's black-and-white frames like the earlier classics," explains Saberwal's filmmaker son Dharmesh Darshan.

The film opened two years after Kashmir Ki Kali and transformed Sharmila Tagore from a shy teenager to a courtesan from the Magadh era who supposedly returns to life to reclaim her lover. "Everyone was wowed by her sensuality in an Amrapali costume designed by Oscar-winner Bhanu Athaiya. Since her character Kiranmai was from another world, Bhanuji suggested an Amrapali costume for her which was teamed with exotic jewellery like chokers, dangling earrings and a bracelet that becomes an element in the storytelling.

Even the trend of Sharmila's famous bouffants started with a layered, old-world hairstyle adorned with a piece of jewellery in this film," points out Dharmesh.

Interestingly, while shooting the film's poignant climax on the rocks of Bandstand, where the lovers meet for a final goodbye, director Brij suddenly realised that Sharmila couldn't be wearing the Amrapali costume and decided on a white sari. "My mother (Sheila Darshan, the sister of Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt) would often complain that my father borrowed one of her beautiful white saris for that scene and it never came back to her," Dharmesh reminisces with a laugh.

The film co-starred Biswajit who like in Bees Saal Baad is drawn towards his doom by a sonorous signature tune, Har tukda mere dil ka, and a woman who could be real or ethereal. Mumtaz caught the eye in a role with shades of grey and Prithviraj Kapoor played the archaeologist caught in a web of deceit. "But the story revolved around Sharmila and established her not just as a glamorous star but also as a performer," asserts Dharmesh, who 30 years later reminded the actress about the film when she made a two-scene appearance in his Dhadkan as Akshay Kumar's mother.

Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi continues to haunt with its charttopping tracks, from Har tukda mere dil kaand Yahi woh jagah hai to Main shaayad tumhaare liye ajnabee hoon, Phir miloge kabhi iss baat ka vada kar lo and Mohabbat cheez hai kya.

"There was also a beautiful duet, Huzur-e-waala jo hai ijazat, picturised on Helen and Madhumati for the first time," says Dharmesh. "Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma called up Ashaji (Asha Bhosle) from the US after hearing the songs during a drive. They recreated the magic of Ashaji and OP Nayyar."

‘My mom resides in me’

Arjun Kapoor admits he still misses mom Mona Kapoor, explains his equation with Sridevi and his friendship with Alia Bhatt.

The 'angry young man' tag doesn't rest easy on his shoulders. Arjun Kapoor, who grew up on films like Ram Lakhan and Tezaab, and has starry-eyed memories of Sholay, Shaan, Kala Patthar and Deewar, says, "Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) was the quintessential angry young man while Anil chachu (Anil Kapoor) was the jhakaas young man. It's too early for me to be bound to an image, I should be playing different characters."

That is the reason Arjun is looking forward to 2 States in which he plays a bespectacled Punjabi geek who falls for a feisty South Indian girl, played by Alia Bhatt. And while everyone's talking about Krish Malhotra's uncanny similarity in appearance to the film's director Abhishek Varman, Arjun points out that there's a lot of him in this unlikely hero too.

"The anger you see only explodes on screen, off it, I keep it bottled within me. I can also connect with Krish's attachment to his family, his mother in particular, and his value," he says.

What if real life follows the reel path and his family too objects to the girl of his choice? Arjun's not worried. "I'll sit them down and I'm sure they'll understand. The one who'll be most interested is my cousin Sonam (Kapoor).

Recently, when Alia announced our 'engagement' on Twitter, she called to rant about why I hadn't told her earlier. I explained that it was just a marketing gimmick," he laughs, adding that right now marriage is the last thing on his mind.

Buzz is, romance is brewing between Alia and him, even though at the film's trailer launch the dirtector was asked if he and the actress are an item? "Abhishek and Alia? That's a mystery even I want to unravel,"Arjun jokes.

Arguing that just because his co-star and he hang out together, doesn't mean that they are in a relationship, he says, "Right now the only thing simmering between us is anger. She hasn't seen Gunday and I haven't seen Highway. Unless I see her film soon, I can see a major squabble coming."

Has he read Chetan Bhagat's book? "I'm not much of a reader, 2 States is still there on my mother's bookshelf, my nani's read it too, but I've decided I won't till the film releases. I resisted reading it because I wanted the film to be a journey of self discovery," he says.

Has he at least discussed the book with his nani? "I don't talk films with my family. I like them to be surprised," he asserts.

He must miss his mom, Mona Kapoor? He nods, "I do, but I know she resides in me and I reflect her in every step I take."

Is that why he has made peace with his step-mom Sridevi? "I don't know if it is about making peace. I love my father and she's a part of his life. Besides I've been brought up to be respectful and decent to people," he points out.

Arjun has started working on his first home production, Sanjay Kapoor's Thevar, supervised by his dad, and is enjoying the experience. "Dad has so much experience in the business but he lets me find my own space on the set and enjoys watching me run around and enjoy myself," says the actor.

Interestingly, he began his career assisting Karan Johar on Kal Ho Na Ho. Yash Johar signed his first pay cheque while Karan christened him Fubu, after the only clothing brand that the then rotund actor could fit into. The nickname has since been picked up by the whole industry.

"The chemistry between Shah Rukh (Khan) and Saif (Khan) left me wide-eyed. They would discuss lines, improvise on them, without any attempt to under-cut each other," he reminisces. We see signs of that bonhomie between Ranveer Singh and him. Is the bromance for real? "Well, Ranveeer is a buddy," he smiles.

And they're doing another film together, Finding Fannny Fernandes, in which Ranveer is playing Deepika Padukone's husband? "He's doing a cameo. The film is about Deepika and me. And if it was important to get the girl in the end I wouldn't have done Gunday," asserts Arjun.

Arjun interestingly doesn't think he'd make a good producer because he's a spendthrift. "But some day I'll direct a film. But for now I'm enjoying being an actor."

Love in a nightclub

Minissha Lamba and Ryan Tham have been dating for the last six months, marriage could be on the cards.

Minissha Lamba has finally found her Mr Right. She has been dating Ryan Tham, the owner of the Juhu nightclub, Trilogy, since the past six months. But their relationship was a closely guarded secret so far.

The actress who was last seen on screen in Zilla Ghaziabad lasty year, met Ryan through common friends and sparks flew during the first meeting itself. The two exchanged phone numbers and Minissha soon started visiting Ryan's nightclub frequently.

Friends saw them dancing closely on several occasions and soon started teasing her about him. But to their disappointment there were no confirmations forthcoming.

It was Ryan who uttered the three magical words-I love you-first. "His confession did not surprise Minissha. She felt the same way about him but had been too shy to express her feelings," a friend told Mirror.

Suddenly, the romance was in the open. Since last week, the two have started going out together.

A few days back, Minissha finally admitted to her friends that she was no longer single but officially seeing Ryan.

Now, her parents also know about him and have no objections to the match. Neither does his family who has consented to his choice.

Added the friend, "The two are very serious about each other and could tie the knot soon."

When contacted, Minissha was initially hesitant to speak about Ryan. But eventually confirmed the news saying, "Yes, I am dating Ryan."

Zoya binds Ranveer in exclusive contract

Details about Zoya Akhtar's upcoming film, Dil Dhadakne Do are being kept strictly under wraps. A few weeks ago, Mirror, broke the news that the film will roll in May aboard a cruise liner.

Though buzz is that Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh will play siblings, with Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma paired opposite them, reportedly Ranveer is not playing Pee Cee's brother.

"He's a rich businessman and you'll see a Ranveer you've never seen on screen before," says the head honcho of Excel and Farhan's co-producer, Ritesh Siddhwani.

Meanwhile, a friend of the actor elaborates on the role, saying that it is Ranveer's most difficult portrayal to date. "His character is very prim and proper and unlike the carefree characters he has played so far," says the source.

Interestingly, Ranveer has signed a contract with the production house, stating that he will not shoot for any other film, not even ads, until Zoya's film wraps up.

Explains Ritesh, "We want to keep Ranveer's look under wraps. Fortunately for us he has agreed to work exclusively on Dil Dhadakne Do for four-and-half months."

Meanwhile, Zoya has finished her recee and a major portion of the film will be shot extensively across Europe in countries like Turkey, Spain, Italy, France and Tunisia. Many of the important characters meet on the cruise for the first time. Talks are on with Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Tabu to play significant roles but they are yet to be signed.

Not a dino, it’s a Brahmarakshas!

Vikram Bhatt, who's gearing up to terrify us with India's first 3D creature film, titled Creature, is confident that his monster is at par with Hollywood standards.

But he asserts that his creature is not a dinosaur, werewolf or even a vampire. "Why should I borrow from American culture? My creature is a Brahmarakshas--a mutant from Indian mythology. It's 10-feet tall, has a swishing tail and is in the same league as the Yeti which I believe exists, although I am yet to encounter one," he says.

The creature owes its existence to stateof-art visual effects and has been created indigenously in the Chennai-based Prasad EFX. "I did approach a couple of foreign studios but the price they quoted was absurd. So I went to Prasad, I have previously worked with them on 1920, Haunted and Raaz 3. Initially I was sceptical but my fears were put to rest when I saw the creature for the first time on screen. With the right lighting, texture and animation, it looked terrifying," he recalls, adding that it took seven months for his creature to take shape. "It reinforces the fact that we have the talent. The back work VFX of many Hollywood films is done in India."

Interestingly, Vikram's heroine, Bipasha Basu, is yet to see the creature. "I keep telling Bipasha to come see it. I can hear the fear in her voice when she says she will, soon. I wonder how she will dub for the film knowing what a fattu she is," he breaks into a hearty laugh.

Despite Bipasha's self-confessed fear for anything that is unexplained and part of the supernatural, Vikram believes Bipasha is the perfect choice for his spine-chillers.

"She surrenders completely to the script and the director. And when you are making India's first creature film, it's better to work with someone who believes in your vision rather than someone who's sceptical," he says. "Even when I narrated the germ of the idea of Creature to Bipasha, her reaction was, 'Let's go for it!'"

Armaan, Tanishaa head to Vaishno Devi together

Sparks flew on the sets of Bigg Boss 7, but now it's serious love leading all the way to the altar. On Saturday afternoon, Tanishaa Mukerji and Armaan Kohli walked hand-in-hand into a Juhu 5-star hotel and revealed to Mirror that they would be taking a chopper ride to Jammu together on Sunday to visit the Vaishno Devi Temple.

"Bulava aaya hai,"said Armaan, ordering coffee. "When I was a child, my dad (producer-director Rajkumar Kohli) and I used to visit Vaishno Devi every year, but we haven't visited the temple in the last 15 years. I'd promised Tanishaa when we were in the Bigg Boss house that once we are out, we'd go to Vaishno Devi together. I'm ready to fulfil that promise."

Tanishaa's mother Tanuja and Armaan's father accompanied the couple to Jammu yesterday. Tanishaa is seeking Mata's blessings for the first time and it's crystal clear what she wants—Armaan as her partner for life.

Buzz is, while Armaan's family has always supported the relationship, Tanuja wasn't too keen on the match. But her 'resentment' didn't stop the couple. After the curtains came down on the reality show, they rang in the New Year together in Goa. Later, during a Celebrity Cricket League match in Dubai, Tanishaa was spotted in the stands, cheering for Armaan. She also nursed him when he was injured and they were so engrossed in each other that they forgot the spectators who were watching them intently.

"Tanishaa took good care of me even during the show, that's what I like best about her," smiled Armaan. "If she wasn't around, I would have been out in the third week after some huge fights with the contestants. I used to be really aggressive then, but I've changed thanks to Tanishaa's calming influence." Aren't these the qualities of a homemaker? Tanishaa smiled and Armaan, looking at her admiringly said, "She is marriage material."

She touched him on the shoulder and blushed, ""Hey Armaan, why don't you praise me more?" They admitted that they are "very much together" and in a "happy zone" now that both families have given their blessings, before walking, hand-inhand to a channel's party.

Mirror has it that they plan to tie the knot by the year-end or early next year.

Manoj, Tabu off to Mauritius

Fourteen years after Ghaath and Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar, Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu will reunite on screen in Vikram Malhotra and Neeraj Pandey's first joint production which rolls in Mauritius soon. "It's a psychological thriller," says Manoj. Are they paired romantically? He says "For that you'll have to watch the film. It is a story of relationships revolving around Annu Kapoor, Tabu and me."

The film will be directed by debutant Manoj Abhyankar. Manoj points out that he's worked with many first time directors, including Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra in his first film Aks which was also a psychological thriller. "Although the director is new, the script is fabulous. I had done Special Chabbis with Neeraj and we share a great rapport. I'm waiting for him to direct me again. Meanwhile, I'm working on Saat Uchakkey which he is producing. I play this good-for-nothing bloke in Chandni Chowk who is desperate for money and to get married. It's directed by another debutant, Sanjeev Sharma."

Then there's Tigmanshu Dhulia's multi-starrer Yaara but Manoj is tightlipped about the project: "The dates, the finance, the cast is yet to be finalised. All I can say is that I'm committed to a project with Tishu who is an old friend from my theatre days."

When asked about Sanjay Gupta's upcoming crime drama Mumbai Saga where he reportedly plays a character modelled on gangster Arun Gawli Manoj retorts, "As of now I haven't signed Mumbai Saga. Gupta is a friend but I don't have excessive expectations from friends." Touche!
