Pitt fills Monroe's shoes

It is famously the only thing Marilyn Monroe ever wore in bed, but now Chanel want you to think that wearing their famous No.5 scent might just get Brad Pitt between the sheets... judging by their new much hyped campaign. For the first time in its 91 year history, the perfume is being endorsed by a male celebrity. And Brad Pitt, 48, has been chosen as the man for the task - though we're pretty sure the reported $7m (4.32m) paycheck will have sweetened the job.
Chanel have also released a number of mini videos - a maximum of just eight seconds each featuring father-of-six Mr Jolie. One features Brad staring broodily at the camera as he meditates on the ways of the world and true love.
Brad said in a statement, rather self-indulgently: "what's important to remember about Chanel N5 is how revolutionary this fragrance is. It broke all the rules by discarding meaningless ornamentation for an honest and open aesthetic, and a scent which embodies liberation from trend."
Director Joe Wright shot the full commercial, which premieres in full on 15 October.
The actor follows in the footsteps of actresses including Monroe, Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou and Catherine Deneuve.
