Chennai Express will not release on Eid next year, since Salman is coming up with his Brindavanam remake at the same time
He has indisputably ruled the box office-Dabangg, Bodyguard and this year's Ek Tha Tiger smashed box-office records. What was common between those films? Well, it was the release date. Salman Khan created a new festive weekend for Eid and he literally conquered the ticket windows with back-to-back blockbusters. A few days ago, there were whispers in the film industry that Salman's original Eid 2013 release Sher Khan, to be directed by his brother Sohail Khan, had been kept at the backburner. In the interim, Shah Rukh decided to release his next in line after Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chenai Express, on Eid 2013; the film's director Rohit Shetty and the co-producers UTV seconded his idea.
However, Salman was not taking it lying down. He and Sohail decided to make the South blockbuster Brindavanam in Hindi. Brindavanam director Vasmi Paidipally is likely to come board to don the director's cap.
The latest is that better sense has prevailed upto Shah Rukh. Chennai Express will not release on Eid 2013. Shah Rukh has decided that his film should release two-three weeks after the Brindavanam remake.
Trade analyst Taran Aarsh told Mirror, "It would have been a very dangerous fight. The industry needs to coexist. Don't eat into each other's share. I would say the same for Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardar too (both slated to release on November 13)."
