Bradley is like a force of nature

The first day of my shoot for SLP was with Bradley Cooper. I was wondering how we would manage since we had met just a day earlier. But David Bradley and I found the right note for Dr.Cliff Patel (my character) and Pat (Bradley) immediately and ended up doing four scenes in place of the one that was scheduled. We kept going because the energy felt just right. It is important for actors to feel comfortable with each other. This allows the director to interpret things in many ways. David challenged us in our scenes and we ended up doing everything on a completely different note than was planned.

Being addressed to as a legend or a thespian makes me uncomfortable. For me working with Bradley who has not seen my work and does not put me in any category took the pressure off me. In India, everyone knows my work. I am not complaining, but SLP was definitely a refreshing change. I was free to experiment, since while I had the experience, I also was a newcomer of sorts. Being on my toes was thrilling.
Bradley is like a force of nature. He knows everything that is going on in every department - from the assistant's job to what the camerman has planned, from the art to the costume department. And he is absolutely right with his observations and suggestions. His energy is infectious. I think in SLP we will see Bradley in a completely new role and he will make a mark as one of the greatest performers this year. Jennifer, on the other hand, is a relaxed girl and has a different kind of energy. I didn't have many scenes with her, but we did interact. She is incredibly real, focused, quirky and grounded. She reads a book before her shot, is calm, quiet and unassuming till she faces the camera and then she shocks you.
There is a great sense of discipline and dedication in these actors. I want my students to be like them. As a teacher, this experience made me realise that I have to push the students toacknowledge and understand work ethics as much as being good at their jobs. Being prepared, disciplined and punctual is underrated. Incidentially, these are someof the biggest reasons I have achieved so much in all these years.
