The countdown to the two big Diwali releases: Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar had started weks ago, with the clash being touted as the mother of Bollywood battles over eyeballs (read: footfalls in theatres)
However, come D-day and the fate of both the films was a matter that rested largely in the hands of the audience.
At Chandan Talkies, stall tickets for Jab Tak Hai Jaan were going for up to Rs 150 a stub while balcony tickets for the film were selling between Rs 250- Rs 300 per stub.
At Gaeity and Galaxy in Bandra, Son of Sardaar was running to packed houses, while black marketers were selling Jab Tak Hai Jaan tickets to the people at the original prices.
But there were long queues at the ticket counters for both films.
