For the upcoming Romeo-Juliet saga Ram Leela, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not only recreated a piece of Gujarat in the heart of Mumbai’s Film City, but also the festival of colours, Holi in mid November. Despite the heavy security at the venue, Mirror got a sneak peek into the proceedings on Thursday.
The first thing that hit us was the sheer enormity of the set. SLB has created a Gujarati town complete with tin-roofed and concrete pillared houses. We even spotted a makeshift pottery shop and a garage to give the set an authentic look. Interestingly, everything was covered by a white canopy- obviously to keep the paparazzi at bay.
Then we caught sight of the hotpants clad Deepika Padukone smeared in gulaaal. The actress seemed to be taking a break between shots and talking on phone while walking around her vanity van. Needless to say, a holi sequence wouldn’t be complete without the hero- Ranveer Singh, who we apotted sprinting around the set in an unbuttoned shirt and sporting a beard, had put Ranveer in SLB’s line of fire when he had shaved off. But on Thursday, the facial fuzz was back in its place. Bhansali was wearing his trademark white kurta pyjama in white. The shoot went on for almost the entire day.
