Rohit plays smart

For his sister’s wedding reception, Shetty intelligently whisked Shah Rukh Khan away before he could bump into his rival Ajay Devgn at the entrance

In keeping with her brother’s films, Rohit Shetty’s sister Mahek’s weekend wedding with designer Navin Shetty  had all the makings of a block kuster. To begin with, like Rohit’s films, the event was a multistarrer – we spotted the Bachchans – Amitabh and Abhishek, Kapoors – Arjun and newly wed Kareena, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu and of course, the filmmaker’s 100-crore film churner Ajay Devgn. And the climax was the entry of Shah Rukh with Devgn already present at the venue.

     Here’s how it went…

     Devgn being Rohit’s close buddy came in around 10pm. He stayed at the main area mingling with the guests on the ground floor of the Juhu five star where the reception was held.

     SRK walked in at around fifteen minutes before midnight. Incidentally, Devgn was still greeting people at the reception area at the time. And thus, to avoid any unpleasant scene, SRK was whisked off to a room on the fourth floor of the hotel immediately.

     A source told Mirror, “SRK and Devgn have never been friends. But with their forth-coming Diwali releases and the ongoing war over it, nobody wanted them to come face toface. Rohit is very close to Devgn and is now working with SRK in Chennai Express. He did not want anything untoward to happen on his sister’s big day and took precautions to ensure that.”

     And thus, it was only around 12.10 am, when Devgn left the building that SRK was brought down to the ground floor and introduced to the bride and groom. He wished them  and soon left.
