It could be a plot from one of his crazy movies - Adam Sandler being mauled by a cheetah after he tried to feed the wild animal with his bare hands. But this isn't a kooky film plot but a tale from a family hoilday- with video.
The 46-year old regaled the audience (with the now funny but at the time, probably terrifying) story on the Late Night With David Letterman show.
Grown Ups 2 star Sandler recounted how when he visited a wildlife park in Africa, he was told he could "feed the cheetah water with his hands" in a attempt to connect with the wild animal.
Obviously, Sandler's technique leaves a lot to be desired as the father-of-two was pounced on almost immediately by the wild animal. Within seconds the cunning cat has jumped him, mauling his back. "When he jumped on me, all I was going to do was let him eat me," Sandler said.
Genial host Letterman praised Sandler's cat-like reflexes and ability to stay cool, to which Sandler replied: "I was just like, this is how I'm dying."
