Reports confirm the actor died of drug, alcohol overdose
Cory Monteith led a complicated double life his friends have revealed, embracing a clean healthy lifestyle in LA while filming Glee but turning back to his demons in his native Canada.
As toxicology results revealed the 31-year-old's sudden death was due to an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol, friends said the actor was leading a double life away from his clean cut girlfriend and costar Lea Michelle.
In LA he would play the part of a clean and sober actor trying to stay out of trouble, while in Vancouver he would be a "hard-partying substance abuser" - according to an entertainment magazine.
Friends, including Lea 28, knew about his troubles and tired to help- which is why Cory entered rehab in April.

Sources say Cory was always sober and hard-working on the set of his show Glee but his resolve would fade when he returned to Canada.
In recent weeks his family became alarmed at Cory's behaviour - but the star, whose death was described as a 'tragic accident', became distant.
In a statement released on Tuesday it states the Glee star "died of a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol" after an autopsy and toxicological testing was conducted.
The statement continued: "There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most tragic accident. Mr Monteith's family has been made aware of the circumstances surrounding the death.
"On behalf of family members, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time."
The investigation into the death is continuing and the Coroners Service added that it offers" its sincere condolences to Mr Monteith's family and friends"
