Tom Cruise 'relaxed' after split from Katie

Tom Cruise is said to be more relaxed since splitting from his actor wife Katie Holmes.

The 51-year-old actor has reportedly made some significant changes in his life since his divorce with the 34-year-old actress after six years of marriage, reported an online entertainment magazine.

"Tom has definitely made some changes to his life over the past year since the divorce, He's actually a lot more relaxed and more extroverted," a source said.

The superstar couple, who split last summer, have a seven-year-old daughter Suri together. It was widely speculated that Cruise's obsession with Scien-tology led to the split of the couple.

The source also said that the actor, who was previously married to Australian Actress Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers, has been trying to lead a more low key life since the end of his third marriage.

"Since the divorce, he's spent some time reflecting and actually letting go," the source added.

The Star Wars creator will be presented with the National Medal of Arts at the White House on July 12, reported an entertainment magazine.

A statement from the President's office reads, "By combining the art of storytelling with boundless imagination and cutting-edge techniques, Lucas has transported us to new worlds and created some of the most beloved and iconic films of all time."

Other luminaries to be honoured at the same ceremony include record label boss Herb Alpert, playwright Tony Kushner and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Elaine May.

Cruz and Diaz go topless

After Vanilla Sky, the actresses are teaming up again for a Ridley Scott film.

Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz can be seen lounging topless alongside each other in the trailer of their upcoming flick The Counsellor. The still shows the actresses relaxing with a cocktail at what seems to be a spa resort.
The highly anticipated Ridley Scott thriller stars Diaz as Malkina and Cruz as Laura. The film also stars Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and John Leguizamo. The thriller marks the first on-screen reunion between husband-and-wife Penelope and Javier since 2008's Vicky Cristina Barcelona and also reunites Brad with Ridley for the first time since 1991's cult classic Thelma & Louise.
The two glamorous actresses played love rivals in Cameron Crowe's 2001 hit romantic drama Vanilla Sky alongside the film's leading man, Tom Cruise 12 years ago. Bubbly blonde Cameron played Cruise's character David Aames's obsessed former girlfriend Julie Gianni, while Penelope portrayed his love interest Sofia Serrano.

Ranvir Shorey to join Saif in LA

Amotley bunch of actors have gathered in Los Angeles, where the shooting of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's (Go Goa Gone) next film, tentatively titled, Happy Ending is presently underway.

The latest to join the cast, including Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D'Cruz, and Kalki Koechlin, is Ranvir Shorey who has an important role in the film. The actor will fly to LA tomorrow, where he will finish a month-long schedule for the film.

From what sources close to the production tell us, Shorey will essay the role of a married man, who post-marriage faces serious relationship issues. The character is a foil to that of Saif in the film.

When contacted, Ranvir, who was dubbing for Shashant Shah's Bajatey Raho, said, "My character in Happy Ending is quite close to the part I played in Pyaar Ke Side Effects. I'm quite kicked about the role as well as the city of LA which I will be visiting for the first time."

Speaking from Los Angeles, director Krishna DK confirmed the development adding, "With Ranvir on board, we are done with the casting bit. His is a major role, as important as Saif's."

Govinda and Preity Zinta will have a cameo in the film.

Sonam is smiling...

Rhea Kapoor tells Mirror about her sister's new-found success and the Khubsoorat remake.

You are producing the Khubsoorat remake. Are you nervous, considering several remakes haven't fared well?

No. I am very confident. I know a remake can be tricky. But I also know the thumb rule of remakes: Never take away the film's soul. Maintain the essence of the original but never lose sight of the fact that the remake is for today's audience. If you try to make something totally different, you will fall flat on the face. The rest of course, is destiny.

How did the idea of a Khubsoorat remake come about?

Well, Shashank Ghosh (director of the remake) and I wanted to work together since the longest time. He is known for his quirky sense of direction. One fine day, I asked him what he thought of making a romantic film. When I told him I planned on a remake of Khubsoorat, his eyes lit up. The very next minute, we knew we had our very own Rekha as well - my sister Sonam.

But why Sonam?

It was something very natural. Sonam in real life is very much like Rekha was in the original Khubsoorat - feisty and opinionated. So the choice was dictated by Sonam's personality.

With the success of Raanjhanaa, the commercial value of your Khubsoorat goes up...

Success is always sweet, and Sonam is indeed smiling. She is more positive about her future now. In Raanjhanaa, she got to do something different after a long time and it worked. My sister has worked her a** off. She deserves her moment of glory.

It must have been a tough time for her when some of her films in the past didn't work at the BO?

Sonam and I belong to a film family. We have seen the highs and the lows of filmdom. We are not going to be carried away when we succeed or bogged down when we don't.

Have you met Rekha regarding this film?

I have met her several times socially. About the film, Sonam has met her and taken her blessings.

And what is the Khubsoorat remake all about?

Unlike Rekha's character, who had just finished college in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's classic, Sonam will be a physiotherapist who works with IPL cricketers. Also in the remake, the point of conflict is not between the heroine and the mother of the hero, but between the lead couple.

Why has the hero not yet been finalised?

We want a fresh face. We have shortlisted a few names. We will soon make an official announcement.

Sona gives herself a break

Rather than wait for her film Lootera's release today, the actress and her friends are headed to an undisclosed location for a five-day holiday.

Trust this girl to do things differently. While most of her contemporaries would have waited and watched how the audience reacts to her film, Sonakshi Sinha has gifted herself a five-day vacation ahead of the release of Lootera today.

As of this morning, the actress is jetting off to an undisclosed location with her group of friends for some much-needed R&R. With Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera co-starring Ranveer Singh hitting screens today, and a clutch of other films such as Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara, Bullet Raja and Rambo Rajkumar up for release this year, Sonakshi has been working round the clock shooting and promoting her films. She was really in need of a break.

A source told Mirror: "Sonakshi has got a great response in the trail shows of Lootera and is super confident about the film. Besides, all the hectic travelling has taken a toll on her health. It's been a long time since she took a breather."

While Sonakshi and her gang of girls have gone ahead and booked the flight tickets and made all other arrangements, it was being kept strictly under wraps so far.

"Except her friends, no one knows about this holiday. She wanted to keep it hush-hush. It's something she had wanted to do since a very long time and it's finally happening. She was the one to pick the destination," the source said.

Sonakshi remained unavailable for comment.

Chalo America

The two are set to debut with the remake of 1983-blockbuster Hero, produced by Salman Khan. But even before film could go on the floors, Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya's co-star Sooraj Pancholi has been ambushed by controversy. Following the suicide of actor Jiah Khan, the Juhu police arrested her partner Sooraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, for allegedly abetting the suicide of Jiah.
While Sooraj got out on bail on Monday, his co-star Athiya has been packed off to the States by her very protective father. Shetty, we hear, was concerned that his teenage daughter would attract negative attention and wanted to guard her from the prying eyes. However, a source close to the Shettys told Mirror, "The family had left for the US a fortnight ago, for their annual family holiday, and wouldn't return for another 15 days. The holiday has nothing to do with Sooraj being arrested." The timing, however, seems highly co-incidental.

Pattinson's mystery girl is Elvis Presley's granddaughter

Kristen Stewart must be seething Robert Pattinson is dating Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough.

A source close to the presely family said: "The realtionship is very new but they've got close quickly and are hanging out together a lot, enjoying each other's company."

The 27-year-old and the actress want to spend as much time with each other before Rob starts filming his new movie Map To The Stars.

It's thought R-Patz is impressed by the fact she's rock royalty - but things aren't serious at the moment.

Riley - who was seen cruising round with R-Pattz recently - was previously engaged to Magic Mike actor Alex Pettyfer and is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough - not to mention she's had a snog with Kylie...

To make matters worse for dumped Kristen, she co-starred with Riley on The Runaways back in 2010 and the now loved-up pair initially met through her.

Spielberg to helm Grapes of Wrath

Will produce film based on the John Steinbeck classic

Dream Works is in talks with the estate of author John Steinbeck to make a new movie on his depression era classic The Grapes of Wrath with Steven Spielberg producing.

The novel was turned into a classic 1940 film by John Ford where Henry Fonda played protagonist Tom Joad. The film was nominated for seven Oscars and won Ford a best director trophy.

There were murmurs that spielberg, fresh off directing historical drama Lincoln, was interested in revisiting the classic as a director but Dream works said that the filmmaker is only interested in producing the picture.

Spielberg is next committed to direct Jason Hall's adaptation of American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper.

Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel is celebrating its 75th anniversary next year.

According to reports, Robert Redford was also chasing the rights to make a miniseries on the novel but Spielberg managed to finally win the rights.

Johnny's Depp love for his kids

Johnny Depp has hardly spoken about his split with Vanessa Paradis, but the actor is slowly opening up.

Johnny says the couple's children, Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, handled things well because they were honest with them.

"When you have children, there is no room for lies, no room for anything but the truth," he said.

"Anything other than that is a bad example. We were just very thruthful with them and they were just incredibly understanding, incredibly accepting. I was extremely proud of them, the way they dealt with it."

The actor also admitted he's become more protective over his children as they've grown older.

He as admits he's working hard on trying to teach his offspring how not to make the same mistakes he did growing up.
